This fellow often hunts the yards of Tina's neighborhood, perching in the trees and even on the bird feeders. I'm not sure what he pounced on, but it was very small. I did see him dipping his beak to the grass and apparently eating something, though. The distinctions between the various kind of hawks are so subtle, I often have difficulty deciding which kind one is, but I believe this to be a first year Red-shouldered Hawk.
I am a retired nuclear engineer. I've been looking through one kind of viewfinder or another since I was about 12 years old. I've finally decided, in my retirement, to learn how to take a photograph.
