Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Gary and I went to the Botanical Gardens on one of our recent outings. We were working on some of our macro skills, so the shots were all pretty close.

Zoo and Gardens

JoPaul and I went to the zoo and botanical gardens yesterday morning.

The flamingos like to bury their heads and give you the evil eye if you look at them.

This was the only one of the Macaws that was out sunning.
Good Morning

The water lily pond, or reflecting pool, was filled with beautiful lilies. I love the surface tension of the water around the leaf.

These guys love the water lilies, or maybe they love the little things that are hatching out in the pond

Birmingham Botanical Gardens

On the last photowalk of the summer semester, our small group went to the Botanical Gardens. Here are a few of my favorites.

Lily

I love the way water lilies seem to glow from the inside, almost like there's a light down in there.

Lotus or Water Lily?

Saw this at a fish pond at the Birmingham Zoo yesterday.  I admit, until I just looked it up on Wiki-pedia, I thought a water lily was a lotus flower, but the wiki author seemed almost insulted that the two would be confused.  I still don't know which this is, but it's pretty neat looking.
