Zoo and Gardens

JoPaul and I went to the zoo and botanical gardens yesterday morning.

The flamingos like to bury their heads and give you the evil eye if you look at them.
The Eye

This was the only one of the Macaws that was out sunning.
Good Morning

The water lily pond, or reflecting pool, was filled with beautiful lilies. I love the surface tension of the water around the leaf.

These guys love the water lilies, or maybe they love the little things that are hatching out in the pond

I like how the dragonflies pose for you.

Teensy Pansies

I think these are very pretty pansies, but if so, they are the tiniest ones I've ever seen. They are about one third the size of a normal pansy. If you can blow it up and look closely at the center of the flower that is in focus and just to the right of center, there is a very tiny ant in there. I love finding these itsy bitsy teeny weeny creatures when I am processing a photo.

What's That?

This sculpture is outside the greenhouse at Birmingham's Botanical Gardens. This strange head is protruding from a turtle's shell, but it looks more like a cross between a snake and dog head.

White Rose

There weren't many roses blooming at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, but this one was lovely in the evening light.

Weekend Reflections: Japanese Gardens

The classic photo everyone takes when they visit the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, perhaps with a young couple walking across.  I was there, so I did.

Have a nice weekend and visit other Weekend Reflections here.

52 Photos Project

The challenge this week at 52 Photos Project is:
"the honey of the fields, what's in bloom?"

This was the prettiest rose in the Birmingham Botanical Gardens a little over a week ago.
