The challenge this week at 52 Photos Project is Liquid. I immediately thought of this from my archives, taken during one of my early photography classes. The water looks so silky in spots and soft in others.

52 Photos Project: Black and White
52 Photos Project challenge this week is Black and White.
I thought I had posted this photo before, but I can't seem to find it, so I'm using it again. Most of the images at Bella's 52 Photos Project this week are indeed black and white images, while I'm using a color image of a black and white subject.

52 Photos Project: Vintage Architecture
Bella's challenge this week at 52 Photos Project is Vintage Architecture.
This is a date plaque on the bridge with the LED lights in an earlier post.
And this is an old smokestack at the old Powell Street power and steam plant downtown in the same area as the bridge.

Moon and Stars
Bella's challenge this week at 52 Photos Project is "Star." Here's my interpretation, shot Monday evening from "Star Lake" in Hoover, Alabama while out with our Catchlight photography small group from church.
Okay, I have a pretty good camera, but it isn't that good. The stars are from one exposure and the moon another. I overlaid the moon to hide the blown out one in the shot where the stars were visible. But hey, it's more like what my eye sees.

52 Photos Project: the sign says
The challenge this week at 52 Photos Project is: "the sign says".
Well, what does this sign say, a crow on a cross?
Crows have all sorts of supposed symbolism and meaning. It ranges from very good to very bad, depending on where you look, but I couldn't find anything specific on the web about a crow on a cross. There were lots of pictures of crows on crosses though, perhaps implying that at least photographers feel it should be saying something, but I guess we're not exactly sure what. What do you think it means?

52 Photos Project: {Somewhere You Visited}
Bella's challenge this week at 52 Photos Project is {Somewhere You Visited}. In May we went to Sea World Orlando while visiting my son. This poor turtle was severely injured years ago by a boat prop and can never be released into the wild. At least she's alive and doing well at Sea World.

52 Photos Project: Stairs
Belle's challenge this week for 52 Photos Project is {stairs}.
Columbiana is the county seat of Shelby County Alabama and it's a relatively old little town. At several locations throughout the city you can find these stone stairs that lead from the street to a vacant lot, obviously remnants of homes that have either burned or been torn down for some reason like general neglect and decay. Each of these sets of stairs has many stories to tell, I'm sure, and there are a few people around town that might be able to tell them, but they are dying out fast and I don't think anybody is writing them down. Soon they will be gone.

52 Photos Project: Summertime Refreshments
I've been at the beach for a few days, thus I'm a little late posting to the current 52 Photos Project: Summertime Refreshments. Normally I don't drink much water. Sixty four ounces a day is way out of my realm. In fact, I get almost all my fluids from coffee, an occasional Diet Coke, and a glass of wine. Water is for when I'm sweating, so when I'm sitting in the 95 degree heat, and the sand is bouncing the sun back up at me, it's hard to beat a cold bottle of water. Hard, but maybe not impossible.

52 Photos Project {in flight}
Belle's challenge this week at the 52 Photos Project is "in flight." Click there to see others' interpretations of the challenge.
We try to go to the beach at least once a year, and there are always plenty of gulls, pelicans, etc. in flight.

52 Photos Project: Busy Street
Belle's challenge this week at 52 Photos Project is Busy Street.
This photo is from way back. It was taken in 2006 on 35mm film, before I even owned a digital camera and when I had no processing software. Long time followers of my blog may remember me posting it here as part of the Two Things Challenge (now retired): Window/View, but I re-post it here as clearly the best Busy Street photo I can remember in my collection. I did slightly adjust the exposure, color, and sharpness this time, mainly because I can.

52 Photos Project: and the light arrived
The challenge at 52 Photos Project this week is: and the light arrived.
Last week's Money Tree would have also fit this challenge, but this morning I found the light streaming through the trees and onto the Red Bud leaf.

52 Photos Challenge: Good Luck Charm
Belle's challenge this week at 52 Photos Project is "Good Luck Charm."
This is my Money Tree. It is supposed to bring you luck with money. Tina gave it to me in 2005 for my weekday apartment when I was temporarily assigned to work in Atlanta for a while. I have faithfully watered and fertilized it ever since.

Sugar: A Challenge In More Ways Than One
The prompt this week at 52 Photos Challenge is: Sugar.
The Community Ministries Program and Highlands United Methodist Church in downtown Birmingham serves breakfast daily to 100-200 homeless or unfortunate folks, among other services. Donations are always appreciated.
A lot of them like their coffee sweet; nothing fancy, just a plastic cup and spoon, but hot.
I can't stand sugar in my coffee, but I can certainly get up close and personal with it in a LOT of other foods.
