I think these are very pretty pansies, but if so, they are the tiniest ones I've ever seen. They are about one third the size of a normal pansy. If you can blow it up and look closely at the center of the flower that is in focus and just to the right of center, there is a very tiny ant in there. I love finding these itsy bitsy teeny weeny creatures when I am processing a photo.

What's That?
This sculpture is outside the greenhouse at Birmingham's Botanical Gardens. This strange head is protruding from a turtle's shell, but it looks more like a cross between a snake and dog head.

White Rose
There weren't many roses blooming at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, but this one was lovely in the evening light.

THUNK!
We have these large plate glass windows, and no matter what, the birds see the reflection of the woods and head right for them. THUNK! We here that sound several times during the year, especially in the spring, and when we look on the deck we sometimes see a stunned bird on the deck, just sitting there and wondering, "Wha happened?" This Indigo Bunting recovered after a few minutes and flew off. The secret for the bird is to wake up and leave before Niko finds them. Most do. Some don't.

Stars on Alabama
Nothing special about this shot taken last week at 20th Street and Morris Avenue in downtown Birmingham, except I love the star bursts. No special filters, just f22 with a 7 leaf aperture, and 14 pointed stars. The mini is kinda cool, too.
