These pepper the roadsides, fields, and meadows around here this time of year. When I was a child, they were Black Eyed Susans. I guess they still are, but they are also rudbeckia hirta.
I am a retired nuclear engineer. I've been looking through one kind of viewfinder or another since I was about 12 years old. I've finally decided, in my retirement, to learn how to take a photograph.

I saw some of those recently... not nearly as fresh as yours... those ones were a bit shriveled. Love them!
