Pennsylvania Fields and Roadsides

Okay, now for some of the Pennsylvania flora.  Don't ask me what this is, I don't know, but there was a bunch of it in the fields.

Republican Chickens

Oops, I found one more Pennsylvania fauna photo I wanted to publish.
This is a flock of "Republican" chickens.  They got their name because the recipe for the basting sauce comes from the days when my wife's father would barbeque the chicken quarters for a Republican fund raiser in southern Pennsylvania.  They used a much larger grill and a lot more charcoal than we used last weekend.

NOT Too Close, and NOT Very Personal

The deer enjoy the hay fields just about every evening, but these aren't State Park kind of deer; they are very wild.  You can't get much closer than a couple of hundred yards to them or they dash into the woods.  You can barely tell it's a deer and not a big dog, even zoomed all the way out on the 210mm, unless you crop in, and then the quality really suffers, just not enough pixels.
The last of my Pennsylvania fauna for now, but very much not close and personal like the bugs.  More flora to follow, though.

Little Bunny Fufu, Hoppin' Through the Forest, . . .

Just sittin' here and hopin' you can't see me.

More Fauna and Flora

Ants on the Tiger (Lily)
Grand Dad!
Waspy, one of thousands of waspy looking tiny bugs.
I don't know if they sting; they did not sting me.

Beetle Glow

I was in Pennsylvania over the weekend, and got down pretty close and personal with some of the flora and fauna while I was there.  This beetle was amazing.  I've never seen one that seemed to glow with so much color, and it all depended on how you looked at it.

52 Photos Project {in flight}

Belle's challenge this week at the 52 Photos Project is "in flight."  Click there to see others' interpretations of the challenge.

We try to go to the beach at least once a year, and there are always plenty of gulls, pelicans, etc. in flight.

Bugs in the Garden 2

Well, a bug times 2.

Some sort of Dragonfly, or as we called them when we were kids, Mosquito Hawk.

52 Photos Project: Busy Street

Belle's challenge this week at 52 Photos Project is Busy Street.
This photo is from way back.  It was taken in 2006 on 35mm film, before I even owned a digital camera and when I had no processing software.  Long time followers of my blog may remember me posting it here as part of the Two Things Challenge (now retired): Window/View, but I re-post it here as clearly the best Busy Street photo I can remember in my collection.  I did slightly adjust the exposure, color, and sharpness this time, mainly because I can.

Railroad Park at Sundown

Finally got a decent upload to Flickr and link to the Blog.  Be sure to set to Full Screen and HD (if you can) before you start the play.

Fog and a Blue

It was foggy yesterday morning, so I went driving to find a picture to make.  When I got to Lay Lake, the fog had already lifted, so I drove back closer to my house and found a roadside pond where the fog was still cloaking the mountain, but not much in the valley.
On the way, I did spot this Great Blue Heron and stopped to shoot him out the window.  Handheld telephoto, so it's not very crisp, but if I had tried to get out of the truck to set up the tripod, I know he would have said, "See 'round, fella."

Mostly on the Shady Side

Lurking on the shady side of the leaf was this spider.  It was a little too windy for a really crisp shot, but I thought Miss Eight Legs was interesting.  What is she doing with the silky bed?

52 Photos Project: and the light arrived

The challenge at 52 Photos Project this week is: and the light arrived.
Last week's Money Tree would have also fit this challenge, but this morning I found the light streaming through the trees and onto the Red Bud leaf.
