Super Moon Over Vestavia

Monday night's Super Moon from the parking deck behind Vestavia Hills City Center. Yes, it's a composite. I could never get this exposure in one shot, but both the moon and the foreground were shot from the same deck.

Super Blood Moon Eclipse

For the most part, it was too cloudy to get any really good shots, but here's a quick composite of several shots as the moon exited totality and moved back into the sun. No, the pictures are not spatially accurate, just stuck on a black background.

A little enlargement of one of the composite frames. Not nearly as sharp as I'd like.  I must say, I am unequivocally unimpressed with either the Sony Nex 7's ability to focus in low light, even manually to infinity, or my inability to understand how to do it.

Supermoon From the Church of the Highlands

Supermoon from Church of the Highlands

Supermoon from the Church of the Highlands

Taken from the parking lot of the Church of the Highlands during our Catchlight Photography meeting tonight.  It was a little cloudy and the supermoon was peaking through the trees and clouds.

Supermoon from Alabama

Tonight is the "supermoon."  It's supposed to be bigger, brighter, etc., because it's closer than normal, but it just did not look significantly different from any other full moon to me.  It was a very nice full moon, don't get me wrong, but boy, the news folks sure do try to make a really big deal out of things that aren't as significant as that green Ford Fiesta in the commercial where the guy claims, "It's a really big deal."
