The 2 Things Challenge this week is Floor/Flimsy.
Sighting a Luna Moth around here has always been sort of special; I'm not sure why except they are so large, somewhat rare, and fly around at night. Because of the night flying, they can sometimes appear to go berserk when they get around a light. I guess they mistake it for the moon and it messes up their navigation.
This one flew into the window and wall several times before we could turn the light off, and in the process he broke off one of the tail parts to his wings. It reminded me of the injured Night Fury, Toothless, in the movie, How to Train Your Dragon. Toothless had a similar injury, and consequently was unable to fly until Hiccup, the boy who had injured him, built a prosthesis. I couldn't build a moth prosthesis, so this one could only flop around on the floor of our deck, the back of one of his flimsy wings broken and gone. I don't know what happened to him after I snapped the picture, but I hope he was able to adapt and fly away.

Awww, the poor little guy. So that is a Luna moth...pretty cool. I saw one of these last summer on vacation here at the east end of Long Island. I didn't know what kind of moth it was...know I do.
Nice photo for floor and flimsy. ( psst...did you mean "seeing" a Luna moth, at the beginning of your post? You have "siting" a Luna moth ).
I meant "sighting" instead of "siting" so I fixed it. Thanks.
Quite the pretty moth. Never have seen anything like it up here in MN.
