Perot Museum

Well he never got to build a Perot Presidential Library and Museum, but Ross was a major contributor to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, enough so to get his name on it.  We visited with my son's family while we were there to see the newest grandchild.

Even though the structure is basically a seven or eight floor cube stuck in downtown Dallas, the outside of the building has some interesting architecture.

The lobby has these neat representations of water molecules that move up and down depending on the motion of the people beneath them, as detected by small video cameras spread around.

There's a great place for the kids to play and learn, but it was pretty crowded in there the day we went.

And of course, being in Texas, there are plenty of dinosaur bones.

We didn't even get to several of the floors, since the El Fenix Mexican Restaurant across the street was just sitting there with their great food (fish tacos for me.)

2 Things Challenge: Deck/Old

The challenge this week at 2 Things is Deck/Old.

"My deck is so old!"
"How old is it?"
"It's so old, pre-historic organisms are growing all over it."

2 Things Challenge: Tub/Potato

The challenge this week is Tub/Potato.  Hmmm.  This one was hard, so I had to stretch it and my mind a little.  When in doubt, get closer.
Last spring we bought a couple of tubs of random flowers to put in our deck planters.  Among the Lantana, Sweet Williams, and Calla Lilies was a vine I believe is a sweet potato, at least a decorative variety.

Morn in the Mist

It was a beautiful, foggy morning at the farm in Pennsylvania a couple of weeks ago,
with sunbeams shining through the mist,
and spider webs sparkling in the sun,
but 100% humidity is NOT what you want for the hay just mowed the day before.

2 Things Challenge: Hot/Crack

The challenge this week at 2 Things is Hot/Crack.

A long time ago we had a challenge that was Fire/Water.  See my interpretation here.

I happened to still have an image of the results of that particular little photo shoot, and the glass certainly experienced a hot crack or two or many.  Tink, tink, tink.
